Position: Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Consultant

Type: Fixed-Term, Full-time

Reporting to: Head of Protection

Location: Remote (preferably Jordan) with travel to Gaza

Salary: TBC

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. We provide immediate medical aid to those in need and work to strengthen the health system and local capacity in Palestinian communities. As part of our commitment to holistic and people-centred responses, we recognise the need to strengthen the quality and impact of our Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programming. 

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical leadership and strategic guidance to ensure the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of MHPSS programming in Gaza. The consultant will support the development and strengthening of MHPSS interventions, provide contextualised technical assistance to the Gaza programme and liaise with relevant health and humanitarian coordination bodies including WHO and the Ministry of Health (MoH). 

Role Overview

·Evaluate and oversee the technical quality of MHPSS activities in Gaza.
·Develop and implement strategies to strengthen the technical design and delivery of MHPSS interventions. 
·Provide contextualised, hands-on technical support to field teams, including MAP MHPSS Supervisors and Officers in Gaza. 
·Support the integration of mental health into primary health care systems. 
·Guide the implementation of specialised mental health services, including community, health facility and inpatient interventions. 
·Serve as a technical liaison with WHO and MoH to align with national standards and coordination frameworks. 
·Ensure all activities align with the IASC Minimum Standards for MHPSS in Emergency Settings.

Job Requirements

MAP is seeking the services of an experienced MHPSS Consultant to provide technical oversight, strategic input, and hands-on capacity strengthening for our MHPSS interventions in Gaza. The consultant will work closely with the Head of Protection based in Gaza, MHPSS Supervisors, Officers, and key country programme staff.
