Background
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a UK-registered charity working to deliver health and medical care to Palestinians worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement. MAP provides immediate emergency relief and supports the development of sustainable, locally led healthcare services. MAP envisions a future where all Palestinians have access to effective healthcare and can realize their right to health and dignity.
In response to the growing healthcare needs in vulnerable West Bank communities, MAP operates mobile clinics to deliver essential primary healthcare services. To ensure uninterrupted services during staff absences, MAP seeks to establish a pool of experienced doctors who can be contracted on a short-term basis to cover medical staff leave.
Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this ToR is to recruit qualified General Practitioners and Women’s Health Providers to be part of a backup pool that will provide temporary medical coverage in MAP’s mobile clinics. Doctors will be contracted for short-term assignments based on staff leave and clinic coverage needs.
Scope of Work
The contracted backup doctors will be responsible for the following tasks:
- For General Practitioners:
- Provide general primary healthcare services to community members during mobile clinic visits
- Conduct medical assessments, order appropriate lab tests, prescribe medications, and make necessary referrals
- Record patient information in the clinic’s data system and ensure follow-up
- Collaborate with other members of the mobile clinic team
- Participate in routine medical audits and contribute to clinic reports
- For Women’s Health Providers (in addition to the above):
- Provide antenatal care, family planning, and SRH services
- Offer medical counseling and awareness on women’s health issues
- Track and report on common women’s health concerns
Duration and Working Days
Contract Type: Service contract (short-term, based on availability and need)
Work modality: Daily-rate compensation
Estimated duration: 20–30 working days per year (subject to clinic schedule and staff leave)
Location
West Bank – specific mobile clinic locations will vary based on deployment needs.
Reporting Line
The backup doctors will report to MAP’s Medical Programmes manager (or designated supervisor).

Required Qualifications
- Medical degree with completed internship
- Valid license to practice in the oPt
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant clinical experience
- Experience in mobile or community health preferred
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Proficiency in Arabic and working knowledge of English
- Familiarity with humanitarian standards (e.g., Sphere, CHS) preferred
Ethical and Administrative Requirements
- Completion of Kaya safeguarding training before signing the contract (certificate required)
- Adherence to MAP’s safeguarding policy, code of conduct, and data protection standards

- Commitment to gender equity, non-discrimination, and community sensitivity

Recruitment Method:
Eligible doctors will be identified through a public call for applications managed by MAP. All candidates will be vetted for eligibility and suitability based on required qualifications, prior to contracting.
Selected candidates will be added to MAP’s backup pool and contacted on a rolling basis based on coverage needs.
