Work context
CESVI has been working in Palestine since 1994, and it has developed over the years an expertise in the area of water, Solid Waste Management, sanitation and environment through the implementation of projects in the field, establishing partnerships with relevant actors in the sector and thanks to active participation in the WASH cluster.
CESVI is currently implementing projects in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip.
CESVI is looking for a dynamic and experienced candidate for the position of Solid Waste Management Expert in West Bank, with expertise in the environmental and waste management sector, who will work in coordination with the Project Mangern.
Main Tasks & Duties
The Solid Waste Management expert will be responsible for providing technical and strategic support in the implementation and monitoring of activities related to the integrated management of solid waste, contributing to the strengthening of the solid waste management capacity of local authorities.
- Technical supervision of SWM activities
- Accompanying the consultants of the studies foreseen in A1.1 and A2.1 and their dissemination at local actors
- Developing BOQs/technical specifications of the equipment and plant acquisitions foreseen by the project.
- Support PMs and logisticians in the selection of suppliers for equipment and installations planned in the project, providing technical assessments
- Support to local authorities in the implementation of separate waste collection strategies, with the provision of technical assistance.
- Technical support to MEAL staff in project monitoring activities.

- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Waste Management, Circular Economy or related subjects.
- At least 5 years of experience in solid waste management
- Experience in the design and implementation of separate waste collection systems, composting or composting or recycling plants.
- Experience in training and technical assistance to local authorities.
- Extensive knowledge of waste management techniques (collection, processing, recycling, composting)
- Familiarity with circular economy and environmental impact reduction approaches.
- Ability to analyse municipal systems and design of improvement measures.
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
- Valid driving license
The assignment is a full-time post expected to start 1st of September. Subject to satisfactory performance, the period of employment may be extended.
Please note that it is a project-based post and does not imply continued employment with CESVI after the end of the contract period.
