Anera, which has no political or religious affiliation, works on the ground with partners in Palestine (West Bank and Gaza), Lebanon, and Jordan. We mobilize resources for immediate emergency relief and for sustainable, long-term health, education, and economic development. Our staff serve in their communities, navigating the politics that constrict progress to get help where it’s needed most.

That’s how Anera received more than $171 million in support of programs in 2023 alone, and it’s how we will keep building better lives until hope finds its way in the Middle East.

Job Overview/Summary:

Anera is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to lead and coordinate all communications activities across the West Bank and Gaza. Based in Palestine, the Communications Manager will oversee the development of high-quality content that highlights Anera’s impact, ensures donor visibility, and supports fundraising and advocacy efforts. The role will serve as the primary liaison between the field teams and Anera’s US-based communications department, ensuring consistent messaging, branding, and timely delivery of stories, reports, social media content, and visibility materials. This position requires strong writing, storytelling, and project management skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.

Position Reports to: Liz Demarest, Vice President of Communications

Position directly supervises: Communications Officer in Gaza, Content Creator in the West Bank, and Field photographer in Gaza

Qualifications:

Academic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, international development, marketing, or a related social science field is required, MA.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred and considered an asset, especially for candidates with experience in humanitarian or development sectors.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum five years of experience working in related fields, preferably within an NGO environment, is required.
  • Must have strong written skills and analytical capabilities, with the ability to write creatively and report accurately; strong proofreading skills.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required. 
  • Ability to work alone and as a team player.
  • Strong remote management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Mail Merge, Email, and Internet; InDesign, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
  • Willingness to travel within the West Bank. Jerusalem and Gaza, when possible.
