General Services Technician
MdM is a medical humanitarian NGO. Since 1980, MdM has worked independently around the world to guarantee universal and sustainable access to healthcare.
In Palestine, the objectives of the programs are to limit the medical impact of the restrictions in accessing medical care on the Palestinian population, to improve mental health and psychosocial care and to bear witness to the violations of the right to health.
Position: General Services Technician– (Part-Time)
Number of vacancies: Two
Location: Gaza & Deir Balah Office
MAIN OBJECTIVE
To ensure regular maintenance and development of equipment, materials, infrastructure and buildings, as well as the installation of equipment in the offices, allowing staff to work in a secure working environment.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Logistics Needs Assessment & Coordination
- Support the implementation of logistical needs for any new clinic, office, or warehouse as identified by the Logistics Officer, including assisting in market surveys and supporting the selection of suppliers/service providers as per instructions.
- Reporting procurement needs for equipment, tools, and services to ensure a prompt response to logistical requirements.
- Assisting in the inventory of assets in the clinics/offices and continuously assessing their condition.
- Update access cards.
- Fill out and update maintenance tracking tables and equipment logs on paper during field visits (e.g., at clinics), based on real observations.
Prepare reports on interventions carried out and keep information records up to date (register, monitoring files, etc.).
- Maintenance & Technical Support
- Carry out repairs and work on the establishment’s installations (electricity, telephony, heating, air-conditioning/water resources, solar panels, internet, solid waste, lifts, plumbing, carpentry, locks, etc.).
- Carry out minor maintenance and restocking of simple equipment (printers, photocopiers, etc.).
- Study and update plans, diagrams and instructions for use.
- Facilities preparation:
- Assist in identifying logistical needs for new clinics, offices, or warehouses as guided by the Logistics Officer, and support market surveys and supplier/service provider coordination as requested."
- Manage the transport, loading and/or unloading of objects, desks, etc. to prepare clinics, offices, assist with relocation/reorganisation.
- Fleet, Stock & Supplier Management
- Assist in managing vehicles (keys, fuel, schedules, monitoring documents).
- Contact specialised service providers (including for building security) and monitor/control the activities or service providers, reporting on this where necessary.
- Carry out stock inventories.
- Organise and maintain stocks.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
Education:
Mandatory: Certified Vocational high school level or official technical training in one or more of the following areas: electrical installation and maintenance, carpentry, metalwork, or plumbing.
Experience:
Mandatory: Minimum of 2 years of logistic experience.
Mandatory: Previous experience for 2 years with I/NGOs or humanitarian actors.
Desirable: Experience in working within medical clinics/ or community-based health programs.
Languages:
Mandatory: Strong communication skills in Arabic (both written and spoken).
Computer Skills:
Desirable: Knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to support reporting, inventory tracking, and documentation tasks.
Soft Skills:
Works well with others and shares information clearly
Handles tasks carefully and respects confidentiality.
Can adapt to different tasks and changing situations.
Solves problems without getting overwhelmed.
