Nutrition Officer
General Objective:
In the context of AAH emergency response in the Gaza Strip, the main focus of this position will be the execution of nutrition programs. S/he will be managing the field teams, providing direct supervision and guidance, to ensure adherence to implementation guidelines and high standard of service provision. responsible for keeping records, monitoring service beneficiaries' progress, and reporting to the Nutrition Coordinator. This person will actively participate in programming and follow-up meetings of activities, sharing good practices and lessons learned that contribute to the improvement of the intervention and the expertise of partner organizations. Main objectives include:
- Coordinate with relevant actors including community leaders other NGO an INGO staff and beneficiaries to ensure awareness of activities and effective implementation.
- Lead the team operating Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programs (TSFP) and others if applicable such as Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) or the Mother-Baby Friendly Spaces (MBFS), conducting needs assessments in coordination with the Nutrition Coordinator when necessary.
- Work in team and adapt the service according to the priorities identified and changing in the period of implementation of the project, assuring that the interventions are conducted preserving the dignity of beneficiaries and following strong ethical principles and confidentiality.
- Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of training and awareness raising activities, as well as groups and individual sessions ensuring that the impact of team activities is met considering the cultural context for the most vulnerable communities.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Objective 1: Coordination and communication
o Maintain regular communication with relevant stakeholders with external actors (local authorities, community leaders, other NGOs, volunteers, subcontractors, etc.).
o Inform AAH Management about the positions of different actors in the field, they response
capacities etc. to anticipate joint opportunities of joint response and to avoid duplication
o Maintaining regular information flow to partners and stakeholders.
Objective 2: Programmes’ management
o Make sure that TSFP/CMAM/IYCF programs are implemented according to Sphere standards.
o Prepare activity plans for each activity in coordination with management
o Prepare supporting documents and the material needed for the distribution and produce field reports when possible
o Support the selection of geographical areas/IDP centres and target groups
o Propose solutions and improvements relating to project activities and how to improve
distributions
o Conduct any M&E activity as required and document all activities led (pictures etc.)
o Prepare regular Field and Activity reports, to inform progress, challenges and achievements for activities implemented.
Objective 3: Technical support and supervision
o Supervising performance and accountability work to ensure programmes can demonstrate results and base future plans on evidence of positive outcomes at community level.
o Line management Nutrition teams which side and composition may vary over time (assistant, field workers, social workers, daily labour)
o Lead nutrition screening and coordinate the integration of IYCF-E in identified health facilities, collect and analyse data and build a response plan together with the coordinator.
o Contribute to the establishing a monitoring and evaluation system for the nutrition projects, in collaboration with the MEAL coordinator.

Diploma or university degree in Midwife/labour and delivery nurse or general nurse ideally. Other backgrounds to be considered: nutritionist, pharmacists, public health.
Leadership in Community Management of Acute malnutrition (whether inpatient or outpatient) in emergency settings is a plus, Blanket supplementary Feeding and Infant and Young Child Feeding - Knowledge of program implementation. - Knowledge on partnership building and management.
Basic understanding of food security and livelihoods concepts.
Malnutrition screening (MUAC, WHZ and oedema measurement). - Counselling on pregnant and lactating women and infant feeding. - Previous experience in effective team management - Previous experience in emergencies, including large scale distribution, planning it and executing it. - Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with minimum 3 years of directly proven experience in NGO sector.
Knowledge in humanitarian/emergency and/or development programming is a plus.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, strong planning and observation skills
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic and English
Very good knowledge in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.

Salary: according to Action Against Hunger salary scale.
