THE ORGANIZATION

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The psychologist will be in charge to provide Individual counselling sessions, Group Counseling sessions, Referral of beneficiaries requiring specialized MHPSS services and their follow up with the referred organization/service and provide the Psychological First Aid (PFA).
Responsibilities:
Responsibility 1: Provide mental health and psychosocial care and follow up to beneficiaries
- In collaboration with Psychosocial Support Workers (PSSW) and\or Community Mobilizers, , conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate the needs and capacities of people identified with psychosocial and psychological issues using standardized assessment tools.
- Respond to internal referrals for further psychological assessment and intervention.
- In collaboration with PSSW and\or community mobilizers, provide psychological support at the individual / family level. This includes regular individual and group sessions including family sessions.
- Refer beneficiaries with specific needs of specialized psychological/psychiatric/ other support to external services and follow-up on all referrals.
- May support training internally and externally to community mobilizers, community leaders, and other actors on PFA and MHPSS services when needed under supervision of MHPSS Technical Officer
- Plan and implement community awareness activities and group discussions as directed by the project manager.
Responsibility 2: Report data on group activities, follow-up on individual / family cases and organize the daily and weekly activities
- Conduct assessments and use forms as per the CTO MHPSS reporting system.
- Participate in biweekly supervision and capacity building sessions.
- Ensure daily quantitative and qualitative reporting in line with the project’s standard operating procedures.
- Analyze and report on beneficiaries’ psychological and psychosocial status.
- Organization of the weekly plan within the multidisciplinary team, with the support of project supervisor
- Submit weekly and monthly reports to line manager.
- Contribute to the production of case study, collect testimonies to provide evidence of intervention and input in reporting to the TO
- Any other reports to be made upon line or functional manager request
Responsibility 3: Demonstrate an ethical and professional practice to increase care quality.
- Respect and promote HI’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners.
- Demonstrate willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions, capacity building activities.

- Adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor (reporting, etc) as they unfold
- Participate in educating other organizations and institutions on inclusion of persons with disability
- Maintain a positive image of Humanity and Inclusion at all times and in all circumstances.
- Address needs and requests in a professional way.
- Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
- Interact with children with the presence or/and permission of their parents or caregivers
- Respect beneficiary confidentiality. And always respect a refusal of treatment.
- Participate in educating other organizations and institutions on inclusion of persons with disability

Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the line manager that is within the post-holder’s expertise and experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or counselling is required, with 2-3 years of professional experience in providing MHPSS services.
- Experience working with vulnerable groups, specifically persons with disabilities
- Experience in related work within an NGO or organization in emergency or post-conflict setting
- Experience in community-based psychosocial support and counselling
- Willingness and ability to work among IDP, displaced populations
- Good knowledge of community mobilization methods and tools
- Fluency in English is preferred and fluency in local language is required. Knowledge of other languages in is an advantage.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and to cope with stress and high pressure
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team
- Ability to work with partners (local and international actors)
- Knowledge of the principles of referrals mechanisms and pathways
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting
