Position Title: Nutrition Specialist.

MA'AN Development Center is seeking to fill the position of Nutrition Specialist to support an environmental and social project focusing on enhancing community resilience in Hebron and the northern West Bank areas. The project aims to strengthen the climate-nutrition nexus and improve nutrition-sensitive approaches in vulnerable communities.
About the Project: Project Title: "Climate Change Action with Nutrition Co-Benefits for Vulnerable Families in Areas B and C, West Bank
Project Overview: this project aims to bolster climate resilience and enhance nutrition among vulnerable communities in Areas B and C of the West Bank, aligning with SDG13. Implemented by World Vision Deutschland, WV JWG, and MA’AN Development Center, it focuses on forming a joint oversight committee, conducting community awareness activities, and building the capacity of community-based organizations (CBOs) to manage climate-smart, nutrition-sensitive programs. The project will support eco-friendly agricultural initiatives, directly benefiting 30 communities ensuring sustainable food systems and resilient communities.
Purpose: The Nutrition Specialist will oversee the implementation of nutrition-focused activities within the project, ensuring effective supervision and support of field facilitators. The role involves developing and executing educational programs that integrate nutrition and climate change, conducting training, and ensuring that the project achieves its objectives regarding community health and environmental awareness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Management and Coordination:
- Oversee the planning and execution of project activities to ensure timely implementation with the project manager.
- Coordinate with project teams, partners, and stakeholders to align nutrition activities with project objectives.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to achieve targets efficiently.
2. Nutrition Program Development and Technical Leadership
- Design and implement community-based nutrition activities, integrating them with environmental and agricultural interventions.
- Lead development of nutrition-sensitive educational materials and community awareness sessions, with a focus on caregivers, children, and climate resilience.
- Provide technical guidance on nutrition to the project team and local partners.
- Ensure alignment with national and international nutrition and public health standards.
3. Field Coordination and Supervision
- Supervise and mentor field facilitators and community-based educators delivering nutrition and climate messages over 30 communities around the West Bank..
- Ensure technical quality and cultural appropriateness of interventions.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange between CBOs and technical experts.
4. Capacity Building
- Conduct training for field facilitators, community committees, and health-related actors on nutrition, eco-nutrition, and behavior change communication.
- Develop and implement capacity-building plans based on assessments and project priorities.
5. External Coordination, community engagments and Representation
- Engage with health authorities and NGOs to build synergies and avoid duplication.
- Map existing actors and services in the target areas to identify gaps and opportunities for collaboration.
- Collaborate with local committees, CBOs, and other stakeholders to facilitate project activities.
- Act as a liaison between field teams and project management to maintain clear communication and coordinated efforts.
6. Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze data related to nutrition activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Prepare comprehensive narrative reports in both English and Arabic.
7. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL)
- Design data collection tools and indicators for nutrition-related outcomes with the MEAL department.
- Analyze and document findings on community nutrition status and program effectiveness.
- Produce timely reports in English and Arabic, including success stories and lessons learned.

Qualifications and Experience
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in nutrition/public health programming, including in community or clinical nutrition roles.
- Experience in maternal and child health, young child feeding), and behavior change approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in program design, community engagement, and technical training.
- Familiarity with the local health and nutrition context in the West Bank, including knowledge of the Palestinian health system.
- Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and reporting skills.
- Competence in MS Office Suite.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to travel extensively to field locations across the West Bank and stay overnight when needed.
- Ability to work in dynamic and sometimes challenging environments.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- High proficiency in writing comprehensive reports in both English and Arabic.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Flexibility and the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Proficiency in MS-Office programs.
- Self-motivated, with a proactive approach to work.
