The A. M. Qattan Foundation is seeking a dynamic and a highly motivated individual for the position of Communications and Advocacy Manager to work in its offices in Ramallah. The following is the description of this position:

Job Objectives:

Lead the Foundation's communication, media, visibility, and advocacy efforts to ensure consistent, engaging messaging aligned with the organization's mission, objectives, and strategic plan. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to enhance the Foundation's public profile and influence policy and public opinion in support of its goals.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication and advocacy strategies that align with the Foundation's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure all public communications maintain high quality and consistency across various platforms and audiences.
  • Monitor public discourse relevant to the Foundation's work and coordinate timely responses in consultation with senior leadership.
  • Provide guidance during crises or emergencies, managing media relations and public messaging.
  • Uphold and promote the Foundation's branding guidelines and digital presence.

Content Development and Management:

  • Oversee the creation of compelling written and audiovisual materials that effectively communicate the Foundation's initiatives and impact.
  • Ensure the development of fundraising and advocacy materials in both Arabic and English.
  • Review and approve all public-facing communication materials for content accuracy and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Manage the production and distribution of communication materials, ensuring they reach and engage target audiences effectively.

Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Identify key advocacy opportunities and develop strategies to influence policy and/or public opinion in support of the Foundation's objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, partners, and stakeholders to advance advocacy goals.
  • Collaborate with program teams to integrate advocacy efforts into program design and implementation.
  • Represent the Foundation in advocacy forums, networks, and coalitions to amplify its voice and impact.

Media Relations:

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with local, regional, and international media outlets.
  • Serve as the Foundation's spokesperson, responding to media inquiries and coordinating interviews.
  • Support senior leadership in media engagements, providing briefings and messaging guidance.

Digital and Social Media Management:

  • Lead the development and execution of digital strategies to enhance the Foundation's online presence and engagement.
  • Oversee content creation and management for the Foundation's website and social media platforms.
  • Analyze digital metrics to inform strategy and improve outreach effectiveness.

Documentation and Archiving:

  • Manage the Foundation's audiovisual archive, ensuring systematic documentation and easy retrieval.
  • Oversee the documentation of events, programs, and initiatives for internal records and external communication.

Team Management and Development:

  • Supervise the communications team, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop work plans and budgets for the communications unit in coordination with relevant staff.
  • Identify training and development needs within the team to enhance capacity and performance.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication and advocacy efforts.
  • Prepare regular reports on communication activities, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders.

Managerial tasks:

  • Participate in senior management meetings, contributing to organizational planning and decision-making.
  • Manage service contracts related to communication and advocacy activities.
  • Coordinate support for the Foundation's events and activities as required.
  • Prepare and manage the unit’s work plans & budgets, in close coordination with the relevant staff
  • Direct & manage the department’s staff; ensuring that staff members are inducted, supported, and encouraged to develop within their roles.
  • Conducting regular and annual staff appraisals and identifying their development and training needs
  • Preparing and presenting regular narrative and progress reports including those for the Foundation’s semi-annual, annual and public reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Foundation's mission and objectives.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or public relations; master’s is a plus.

Experience:

  • At least seven years of work experience in communications, journalism, and/or public relations.
  • Experience in digital media, social networks, and marketing
  • Sound experience and wide exposure to the education and culture sectors in Palestine and the region.
