Job title: Social Business Expert
Project: “Let’s Start Up: When Economy Becomes Social. Inclusive Business and Self
employment for Women with Disabilities and mothers of Persons with Disabilities in
Palestine” (AID10927/EDUCAID/TOC)
Areas: Ramallah, Nablus
Implementing organization: EducAid
Contract Duration: 5 months with possibility of renewal for additional 12 months

Project Summary:

The project intervenes in Palestine in the areas of Ramallah and Nablus
and aims at promoting social economy in Palestine with a mainstreaming on disability
(general objective). In order to address to the identified social and economic needs, the
action wants to foster social economy in Palestine through the creation of and the support
to social enterprises with a mainstreaming on disability, while at the same time enhancing
a favorable environment for inclusive business and strengthening the role of DPOs and
public-private partnership as main actors of change.

The specific objectives are the following:

S.O. 1: To promote social business initiatives through the establishment of and support to
social enterprises to promote occupation and self employment of WWDs and mothers of
PWDs in the areas of Ramallah and Nablus.
S.O. 2: To support the role of public institutions and DPOs as main actors in the process of
inclusive socio-economic development through their active involvement in the establishment
of and support to social enterprises in the areas of Ramallah and Nablus.
S.O. 3: The Palestinian and international community is sensitised on the issue of inclusive
business, with a specific mainstreaming on disability.

The expected results are the following:

ER1: The professional skills and the self employment opportunities for WWDs and mothers
of PWDs are strengthened.
ER2: Creation of sustainable start up enterprises by reinforcing the partnership between
the private and the public sectors.
ER3: The Palestinian and international community is sensitised on the issue of inclusive
business, with a specific mainstreaming on disability.

Duties & Responsibilities (Job Description):

Working closely with all the Team involved in the project (Project Manager, Networking
Officer, Administrator, Local partners). Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the
Social Business Expert will be responsible for coordination, planning and management of
project activities, according to the schedule defined by the project.

In particular, the Social Business Expert will:

- Plan, coordinate and monitor ongoing project activities in collaboration and under the
supervision of the Project Manager;
- Follow up on the creation of social start ups led by Women with Disabilities;
- Prepare a development plan for the enterprises created through the project, tailored
on the needs of each entrepreneurs to ensure their economic sustainability and their
social impact;
- Support the PM in the organization of the training sessions to be realized;
- Support the PM in the organization of mission of Italian experts;
- Support the PM in mainstreaming project activities and results among donors and
stakeholders;
- Mobilize and network with the partners and the key stakeholders for the
implementation of the project activities;
- Monitor and supervise the activities implemented by the local partners;
- Support the PM in mainstreaming project activities and results among donors and
stakeholders;
- Be the focal point and responsible for the implementation of MEAL procedure for the
monitoring and evaluation of the project activities;
- Participate in networking and coordination activities (i.e. thematic clusters, etc)
involving different stakeholders such as local authorities (Ministry of Labour, Ministry
of Social Affairs, civil society representatives, INGOs, etc.);
- Report continuously to the Project Manager on the status of implementation of the
activities;
- Translate and/or prepare the reports on project implementation to be presented to
the donor/other partners, and the monthly project activity reports;
- Maintain a high level of collaboration and coordination with all EducAid staff and with
the local partner;
- Monthly reports in English are required. Possibility of reporting in Arabic according to
request of local authorities;
- In case of impossibility for the Project Manager and EducAid staff to be present in the
country, ensure the implementation of project activities in strict collaboration with
the Project Manager.

متطلبات الوظيفة

Minimum requirements Education/Experience:

- A minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the field of development;
- Previous experience in community development and mobilization;
- A bachelor degree in Development, Economy, Social/Political Science or equivalent;
- Good English writing skills and research ability.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Knowledge of INGO procedures;
- Previous experience in small enterprise development;
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure and against deadlines;
- Perfect knowledge of Arabic;
- Experience in the disability and/or social business sector is an asset;
- A valid Driving license

PERSONAL SKILLS

- Negotiation, and communication skills combined with high degree of patience and
cultural sensitivity;
- Familiar with participatory approach;
- Work organization skills;
- Highly organized and able to work respecting deadlines;
- Strong sense of responsibility.
