CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND

Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization of international solidarity based in France. Founded in 1991, SIF is a non-profit and non-political organization that intends to help, to bring relief and to protect the lives of those threatened by natural disasters, armed conflicts or by economic collapse. SIF provides its help with respect to cultural diversity, without any distinction of origin, religion or gender. SIF Palestine Mission was established in 2008 and since then, it has set up many concrete activities in order to help in a large scale and developed a comprehensive knowledge of the local context and understanding of local needs. 

ROLE IN THE ORGANIZATION

The Psychosocial Worker, under the supervision of the Protection and Orphans Welfare Program Manager and in coordination with the SIF team, will perform the following tasks:

  • Assessment and Identification

    • Conduct home visits for SIF registered orphaned children in various governorates in the West Bank.
    • Conduct psychosocial assessment for registered orphaned children.
    • Implement a culturally sensitive and inclusive approach to ensure a comprehensive understanding of children’s needs and challenges.
    • Registering new orphaned children upon need and make necessary actions to assess their eligibility to be covered by the project.
    • Periodically assess the registered orphaned children situation, needs, education, health as to follow up providing necessary support and follow up, through home visits.

    Counseling and Support

    • Provide orphaned children with individual and group counseling sessions in addition to their family members affected by violence, or suffering trauma utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
    • Address trauma, stress, and emotional distress by fostering a safe and confidential space for individuals to express themselves and process their experiences.

    Capacity Building

    • Conduct capacity-building sessions for identified groups, including children, young adults, and families, care givers, and local counterparts with a focus on building resilience, effective coping mechanisms, child rights, PSS, PFA..
    • Collaborate with community volunteers to facilitate peer support groups, encouraging emotional expression and mutual assistance.

    Collaboration and Referral

    • Work closely with the OSP Project Officer and other project team members to ensure seamless coordination of activities.
    • Case management and referral follow up for identified and affected children to ensure the timely and appropriate referral of individuals at risk to specialized services under the supervision of the Program Manager, and through SIF process.

    Community Engagement

    • Engage with the community and local counterparts to raise awareness about mental health, psychosocial well-being, child rights and provide available support services.
    • Organize community events and activities that promote positive social interactions and emotional well-being.

    Seasonal Distributions

    • Distribute and support team in seasonal distributions in various governorates in the West Bank, including: Food vouchers distributions, Eid Gifts Distributions, Adha Meat distributions, Back- to- school distributions, and any other available distributions.
    • Support team in preparing the validating distribution lists and schedules
    • Follow up sponsorships distributions periodically to registered orphaned children in the West Bank.

    Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions.
    • Prepare regular reports on the progress of mental health and psychosocial support activities.
    • Prepare accurate reports on home visits, activities, and trainings provided.
    • Provide Sales Force reports for sponsored orphaned children and follow up updating data.
    • Support MEAL staff in project related MEAL activities related to project reporting.

    Other

    • Any other task assigned by OSP Project Officer or Program Manager

      The task list is neither exhaustive nor restrictive and is evolving according to the needs of the organization. The employee may be required to carry out other assignments related to his or her qualification. Being an association with limited resources, versatility and flexibility are necessary in order to overcome any difficulty temporary and exceptional.

      The management may thus ask any employee to perform tasks outside this job description and corresponding to your qualification or to be available during campaign periods, outside the working hours and/or days of the employment contract, in compliance with the legislation in force.

متطلبات الوظيفة

KNOWLEDGE / STUDIES / DIPLOMAS

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or psychological counselling from a recognized university.
  • Minimum two years of experience in working on similar projects is preferred, working with international/local development and relief organizations, preferably in the country of assignment; focusing on emergency response and community work and project implementation.
  • Proven experience in providing mental health and psychosocial support in humanitarian or conflict-affected settings.

HARD SKILLS

  • Very good ability to use MS applications and tools
  • Very good ability to use office equipment

SOFT SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of the cultural context and dynamics of refugee camps.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.

Working Conditions: 

  • Location: Based in Ramallah with regular travels to the field in all West Bank governorates and exceptional travels (based on the need) to SIF Nablus Office if possible and respecting specific travel requirements.
  • Duration: 1 year (renewable)
