I-Background on ACTED

ACTED is an international NGO registered in France. ACTED’s vocation is to support vulnerable populations affected by wars, natural disasters and/or economic and social crises, and to accompany them in building a better future. ACTED started its activities in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) in May 2007. ACTED is currently implementing projects covering multiple humanitarian / development sectors, funded by of a variety of international donors, which aim at protecting vulnerable households and strengthening civil society actors across the oPt. ACTED oPt offers a dynamic, rigorous and knowledge-orientated working environment.

II-Country Profile

In the occupied Palestinian territory, ACTED is both committed to humanitarian assistance and long-term development. ACTED strives to strengthen the economic capacities of communities, consolidate civil society organisations, and provide emergency assistance to the most vulnerable, rural communities in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. ACTED currently seeks two positions of Nutrition Assistant for its humanitarian operations in Gaza.

III-Position Profile

Project Implementation

Malnutrition Screening and Referral

• Support the organization and implementation of screening campaigns across selected IDP sites.
• Conduct MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circumference) measurements on children under 5 and pregnant/lactating women (PLW).
• Ensure the correct use of screening tools and compliance with protocols.
• Record, report and classify cases of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM).
• Ensure proper documentation and data sharing with the Nutrition Cluster for follow-up and referral.
• Coordinate with health and nutrition partners for timely referral of identified cases.
• Participate in training sessions on screening and referral protocols.

Nutrition Awareness-Raising Activities

• Conduct group and individual sensitization sessions during screening campaigns.
• Share practical messages on infant and young child feeding, breastfeeding, food preparation, and balanced diets using available or distributed food.
• Support linkages with protection services and safe spaces for women and children.
• Participate in the development and dissemination of context-specific nutrition IEC materials.

Community Mobilization and Engagement

• Work with Site Committees, local leaders, and community focal points to mobilize participation.
• Promote inclusion of women, youth, and vulnerable groups in awareness activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour change through repetition and follow-up of key messages.

Information Management

• Ensure accurate and timely collection of data (e.g. attendance lists, MUAC results, referrals made).
• Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Nutrition Officer.
• Assist MEAL and Program teams in evaluation, monitoring, and assessments.

Protection Mainstreaming

• Ensure gender, age, and vulnerability considerations are incorporated into all nutrition activities.
• Promote adherence to Acted’s Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Refer individuals in need of protection support to the appropriate actors.

Planning and Reporting

• Attend weekly coordination meetings with the Site Management teams.
• Report issues affecting implementation or participation (e.g. security, supply shortages, refusals) to the line manager.
• Contribute to monthly activity reports and donor reports as required.

Logistics and Asset Management

• Support the management and inventory of MUAC tapes, IEC materials, and other items used during campaigns.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and hygiene standards during field activities.

IV-Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in nutrition, health, or community mobilization activities with an NGO or community-based organization.
• Bachelor degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in MUAC screening and referrals is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with basic health/nutrition messaging and maternal and child health principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in underserved/displacement contexts and engage with diverse populations.
• Team player, proactive, and solution oriented.
• Good data collection skills and attention to detail.
