About the position
Job title: IM Officer (Information Management)
Post location: Deir El Balah
Starting date: ASAP
Contract duration: 6 months renewable according to fundings
MISSION
He/She supports the Program and MEAL teams in creating, implementing and monitoring IM tools. He/she:
- Supports Team Leaders/Activity Managers in the creation of specific tools to each program for the collection, processing, analysis, visualization and sharing of data
- Contributes to ensuring the quality of the data collected in the field
- Communicate with each department to assess their needs, then communicate the needs to their line manager
- Support the Program team in the development of emergency data management tools
- Autonomously ensures the maintenance and updates of existing tools on a rolling basis (daily, weekly, monthly) or upon request.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Reporting & Communication
- Participates in data quality assurance through immediate reporting to the line manager any problem or information having an impact on the activities or reporting
- Supports the Team Leaders/Activity Managers on the analysis and creation of products based on other program and support data
- Ensures the confidentiality of data
- Ensures proper archiving and back-up of tools and data managed or created by the Program and MEAL teams, and advises Team Leaders/Activity Managers on how to best organize their own folders
TECHNICAL FUNCTIONS
Information, Data Management and program tools
- Apply the procedures associated with the proper management and security of program data
- Supports the team leaders in the development of data management or data visualization tools
- Creates the first version of survey tools (XLS Form) before review by the team leaders
- Ensures that all forms are updated and deployed on the server and phones (in link with the Program and MEAL teams) before data collection starts
- Participates in the careful review and testing of forms and tools developed by the teams to ensure that products are delivered to Program and MEAL teams without coding mistakes
- Cross check and support on cleaning data collected from the field, ensure regular updates of spreadsheets
- Alert Team Leaders about data discrepancies
- Supports the Team Leaders in the harmonization of databases/templates and in the sharing of information between the different departments
Data visualization and mapping
- Participate in the production of visualisation from data collected in the field or from other sources to support the Team Leaders/Activity Managers
- Participate in the production and updating of maps for all departments
Technical support
- Contribute to conducting IM capacity building trainings to relevant staff (data entry, mobile data collection, GPS use, use of data visualization tool)
- Provides technical and methodological support to program teams in the creation and use of tools for data collection, monitoring, export, management, and storage
- Supports in the training of enumerators for primary data collection
- Supports in data collection in the field when needed
Line manager: MEAL Team Leader

Studies: Higher education certificate or equivalent, in monitoring and evaluation, data management, social sciences or any relevant field
Experience: 1 year experience in similar position is an asset, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector
Languages: English professional working, fluent in Arabic
IT: demonstrated expertise in Excel, Kobo/ODK. Experience in PowerBI and QGIS are an asset.
Skills:
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques and data collection tool design, including XLS coding
- Capacity to visualize data for presentations and activity tracking
- Experience managing large volumes of incoming data, ensuring data protection, and training other department teams on how to access and input data
- Ability to clean and organize a wide variety of data from different sources in a way that is accessible, intelligible and useful to different departments
- Capacity to manage document archiving, including communicating with different departments and field teams to ensure that records are complete and that anomalies are documented
- Strong record of teamwork and ability to work effectively under pressure
