AMIDEAST, an international non-profit education organization in the West Bank and Gaza, and its implementing partner, RTI International, are seeking qualified applications for positions on the USAID-funded West Bank Early Grade Reading project. This project will work closely with and support the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) to enhance learning outcomes for Palestinian children at the primary level by improving Arabic reading instruction, and policies and practices at the government, community and school levels. These positions will support EGR’s efforts to boost parent and community engagement in reading at early grade levels in West Bank public schools, with a focus on the development of relationships between schools, parents and community groups to improve and promote reading.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OFFICER (based in Ramallah)
The key responsibilities of the Community Engagement Officer are to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of Early Grade Reading, establish local connections, and stimulate interest within local schools. This includes organizing community events and supporting Parent Councils to develop and coordinate engagement activities and support community-led local initiatives.
Candidates for this position must have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in education, management, social sciences or any other related field;
- A minimum of five years’ experience in development projects or education field and coordination;
- Experience in grants management and oversight;
- Fluency in both spoken and written English and Arabic;
Experience with USAID or other donor or government funded work (preferred, not required).
