The Portfolio Management Unit is responsible for the communication part in the GIZ office/Palestine. Support and advice shall be given to the Country Director, the Cluster Coordinators, and the Head of Programmes in the fields of internal and external communication, business, and staff development, as well as knowledge- and quality-management. To extend our team we are looking for an experienced Communication and Social Media Officer.

To support the Portfolio Management Unit, we are looking for a full-time (100%)

“Communication and Social Media Officer”

Tasks and Functions include but are not limited to:

External Communication  

  • Develops suitable communication instruments for Media and PR according to GIZ standards (e.g. country brochures, fact sheets, advertising material, PowerPoint presentations on GIZ based on the corporate presentation, newsletters, information sheets for the country portfolio).
  • Assures that all publications and material produced in GIZ Palestine are in accordance with GIZ standards (corporate design, standards for content quality).
  • Monitors the update of the office and project/programme websites.
  • Coordinates media activities in the country, organises national media events and tours and compiles a media review (documentation and analysis of media reports on GIZ).

Internal communications 

  • Develops and updates the communications guidelines for GIZ PS.
  • Passes on information and supports dialogue between HQ, the office and employees in projects and programmes, and between the various groups of employees.
  • Cooperates and participates in the overall GIZ corporate communication network, e.g. participating in corporate communication workshops.
  • Coordinates the communication focal point network (organizing monthly meetings).
  • Coordinates the production and distribution of the GIZ Palestine Newsletter (Quarterly).
  • Assures that all publications and material produced in GIZ Palestine are in accordance with GIZ standards (corporate design, standards for content quality).
  • Advises and trains staff on the correct usage of GIZ communication standards.
  • Develops and implements trainings for the GIZ Team in the country.
  • Coordinates the IDA Country Page and specific IDA sub-units.
  • Coordinates the yearly Brown Bag lunch calendar and each BBL event.
  • Manages the request and distribution of GIZ Calendars.
  • Organizes the renewal of wall calendars including main events for the following year.
  • Introduction to the communication work of GIZ PS including Reputational risks to new staff in the context of the orientation and induction events.

Social Media 

  • Develop, update, implement and manage GIZ Palestine social media strategy.
  • Editorial planning (calendar) for content publication and social media.
  • Improve the measures of social media work. 
  • Support the communication FP in creating social media content.
  • Monitor the quality of social media content.
  • Manage the reputational risk aspect by monitoring the GIZ PS social media profiles and other social media platforms in which GIZ is mentioned.

Event Management 

  • Organises events and looks after delegations and VIP visitors
  • Supports the Senior PMU Advisor in the organisation of GIZ events, such as the annual planning, annual staff meetings, orientation and induction events for new staff including the management of offers, contracts and logistics.

Other duties/additional tasks

  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.

متطلبات الوظيفة

Required qualifications, competences and experience

  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Social media or similar field.
  • Experience in public relations and communication.
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative and innovative approach to communication and branding.
  • Good working knowledge of IT tools and applications (MS office).
  • Very good knowledge in German, English, and Arabic languages.
  • Willingness to up skill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management. 

Assignment: Starting 01 March 2021.
