Social Officer

APIC are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Social Officer to join our Sustainability Development and Social Responsibility Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting subsidiaries in aligning their environmental policies and practices with international standards, specifically the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. This position also involves conducting environmental assessments to help subsidiaries identify, evaluate, and manage environmental risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and improving APIC Group’s human resources and social policies, strategies, and action plans to ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards, WBG EHS Guidelines, and GRI reporting frameworks.
- Provide support to subsidiaries in developing and implementing social policies procedures, and management plans; contributing to, monitoring and implementing the ESG Work Plan; and ensuring accurate data collection.
- Support the preparation of Social Impact Assessments (SIAs), social due diligence reports, and social management plans.
- Conduct stakeholder mapping, engagement planning, and consultations with affected communities and other stakeholders.
- Support subsidiaries in developing value chains and conducting comprehensive mapping of the supply chain to identify all tiers of suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers. Assess social risks and impacts across the supply chain, and conduct due diligence.
- Collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data related to social conditions, labour practices, community impacts, and human rights.
- Contribute to the identification of social risks, monitor the implementation of social mitigation measures and contribute to the preparation of monitoring reports.
- Follow up on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) related requests to collect necessary information.
- Communicate and coordinate with CSR partners and implementing organizations, ensuring they adhere to APIC Group’s CSR policy, signed agreements, timelines, and reporting requirements.
- Organize employee volunteering and engagement activities to foster a culture of social responsibility.
- Support the preparation of sustainability reports in line with IFC and GRI guidelines.
- Draft internal reports, presentations, awareness content, and training materials to build awareness of social performance requirements. Develop communication materials to highlight CSR and other social initiatives for annual reports, websites, and social media.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of employee trainings on social issues.
- Stay informed about relevant international and national social safeguards, human rights regulations, and industry trends.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) projects.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, Human Rights, Development Studies, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of professional experience in social impact assessment, community development, or corporate sustainability.
Skills & Competencies:
- Familiarity with IFC Performance Standards, WBG EHS Guidelines, and GRI Standards.
- Experience or coursework in social assessments and sustainability reporting.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement processes and tools.
- Strong understanding of social risks, gender issues, Community and Operational Health and Safety, and labour standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with social research, management, and reporting tools is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of international human rights frameworks (e.g., UNGPs, ILO Conventions).
- Experience working with international organizations or development finance institutions.
- Prior involvement in ESG or sustainability reporting processes.
- MENA region experience.
- Field experience in social assessments or audits.
