Accordingly, the hospital announces its desire to recruit a Psychological Support Coordinator to join the team within a professional environment that aligns with best practices in the healthcare sector

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support

-     Provide individual and group psychological counseling to patients, caregivers, and families.

-     Conduct psychological assessments and develop individualized support plans.

-     Address emotional distress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief related to cancer diagnosis and treatment.

-     Support patients in coping with body image concerns, fear of recurrence, and treatment side effects.

-     Deliver crisis intervention when needed, especially in palliative and end-of-life cases.

  • Collaboration and Care Coordination:

-     Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case discussions.

-     Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, social workers, and palliative care teams to integrate psychological care into treatment plans.

-     Refer patients to psychiatric services or community resources when appropriate.

  • Education and Empowerment:

-     Educate patients and families about emotional responses to cancer and healthy coping strategies.

-     Facilitate workshops, support groups, and psychoeducational sessions.

-     Promote awareness of mental health and psychosocial well-being within the cancer center.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

-     Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in accordance with ICC policies.

-     Contribute to patient progress notes and interdisciplinary care plans.

-     Collect and report relevant data to support psychosocial program development.

  • Program Development & Quality Improvement:

-     Assist in developing psychosocial care protocols and support resources.

-     Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives related to patient experience and psychological well-being.

Minimum Requirements

-     High emotional intelligence and empathy.

-     Strong clinical judgment and decision-making ability.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

-     Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

-     Familiarity with cultural sensitivity and working with diverse populations.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or a related mental health discipline

Licensure/Certification

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a clinical psychologist or therapist, as required by Palestinian regulations
