About the position

Job title: Operation Coordinator

Post location: Ramallah – West Bank

Starting date: ASAP

Contract duration: 6 months renewable according to funding

Job Summary:

The Operation Coordinator for the West Bank will act as the organization's representative, liaising with other stake holders and will contribute to gather and analysis  information on the humanitarian situation and to develop SI strategy for the area.

Job Description:

Programming and Strategy

  • Liaise with SI existing implementing partners, monitor activities, and ensure appropriate reporting are carried out in accordance with Sub Award Agreements (SAA).
  • Identify new potential partners contribute to the vetting and Due diligence process, contribute to the SAA drafting and follow up the launching of activities. 
  • Represent SI in area coordination meeting, including sectorial meeting, ensure proper monitoring and reporting of the humanitarian situation, liaise with other INGOs
  • Contribute to the development of SI direct activity implementation, carry out assessment and propose activities
  • Participate to SI strategic development in the area, analyses the humanitarian situation and propose a strategy for its area based on assessed needs and mandate of the organization

Security and Safety Management:

  • Ensure compliance with internal security and safety rules and procedures.
  • Monitor and analyse, on a permanent basis, the security and humanitarian access context, and provide relevant and timely updates to the Country Director.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contact, permitting the collection of relevant and prompt updates and information related to the overall security context in our field locations
  • Support the Country Director in the management of potential security incidents and draft the security incident report.
  • Participate in drafting and preparing SOP related to security, safety and liaison

Representation / liaison with authorities

  • Establish and maintain successful relations with authorities, ministries, administrative services and local authorities
  • Acts as SI legal representative in the area
  • When required and deemed relevant, introduces the SI team members to key stakeholders in SI areas of intervention.
  • Undertakes all administrative tasks with line ministries and administrative services

Human resources

  • Participate to all recruitment process
  • Support and manage the team under his/her supervision
  • Conduct and ensure regular performance appraisal of his/her team
  • Undertake all necessary action with administrative services linked to recruitment, hiring and administrative management of staff

Logistic / Admin

  • Undertake all actions to open a bank account: identification of a consultant for accounting compliance, liaise with the bank, identification and drafting of the necessary documents, linking with the admin Coo and HQ to advise and ensure the establishment of this bank account.
  • Evaluate the real estate market in Ramallah, contact real estate agents and other organizations and propose solutions to find an office in Ramallah.
  • With the support of the Logistic Coordinator, establish list of suppliers and list of prices in WB, liaise with suppliers and follow up procurement process, is proactive to propose procurement solutions.
  • Ensure / supervise accomplishment of all basic admininistrative and logistic tasks, necessary for the functioning of SI representation in the West Bank

Job Requirements
  • Master’s degree in humanitarian action or project management, development, international relations, political sciences, WaSH, Construction/Architecture or agronomy studies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Genuine commitment to the principles and work of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
  • Previous experience with an international or local organization operating in the West Bank
  • Strong interest and motivation for non-profit and humanitarian aid.
  • Knowledge of the functioning PA administrative services and existing contact network
  • Critical thinking and analysis, autonomy, rigor, reactivity, organization, efficiency, work capacity, proactiveness and a critical mindset are a must.
  • Ability to work autonomously, under stress and adapt to tight deadlines.
  • International work experience is an asset.
  • Mastering of Office pack – Word, Power Point and Excel
