Grants and Compliance Manager
Summary:
The Grants and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the management, tracking, and compliance of Anera’s funding (grants and gifts) grant portfolio at the country office level, focusing directly on country-specific programming and needs. This mid-level role reports to the Deputy Country Director (Operations) while maintaining a dotted-line coordination relationship to the International Grants and Compliance Team, and with the International Grants Director serving as a secondary supervisor. The Manager leads efforts to ensure all agreements, contracts, and related documentation meet organizational and donor requirements while maintaining accurate, organized records. They play a key role in monitoring compliance processes, managing internal audits, supporting reporting, and building team capacity. The Manager works closely with country program teams, finance, and global leadership to uphold strong grant stewardship and advance organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Grants Management & Oversight:
- Oversee the full lifecycle of grant agreements, procurement, contracts, and related documents, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with donor and organizational requirements.
- Lead the monitoring of deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of contractual obligations.
- Ensure the secure and organized management of all grant and contract documentation, both electronic and physical.
Compliance Leadership:
- Support internal compliance checks and audits in line with donor and organizational policies and procedures.
- Identify and address compliance gaps or discrepancies, providing proactive solutions and recommendations to leadership.
- Monitor compliance risks, liaise with international grants and the compliance team, and senior management as needed.
- Oversee and coordinate preparation for external audits, ensuring timely and accurate submission of all required documentation.
Financial and Reporting Coordination:
- Provide regular compliance status updates and reports to management (financial processes, payments, and budgeting) and relevant teams.
- Collaborate with program, finance, and operational teams to ensure the accurate gathering of data and documentation for grant reporting.
Cross-Departmental Coordination & Relationship Management:
- Serve as a key liaison between the International Grants and Compliance team and program teams, ensuring alignment between program implementation and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate across departments to resolve compliance-related questions or challenges.
Capacity Building & Team Leadership:
- Provide ongoing guidance to program and operations staff, as well as partners and sub-grantees, to ensure understanding of compliance standards and processes.
- Contribute to strengthening organizational systems and processes for grants and compliance management.
Administrative and Strategic Support:
- Provide strategic input on improving grant management processes, tools, and systems.
- Support leadership in developing and implementing policies that enhance grants and compliance oversight.
- Contribute to organizational initiatives that strengthen operational processes and accountability.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, international development, nonprofit management, finance, or a related field;
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in grants management, compliance, or related fields, preferably within international development or nonprofit organizations.
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance systems and overseeing grant tracking and reporting.
- Experience with donor regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., USAID, UN, EU, private foundations).
