Established in 1995 and re-registered under No. IA/000104/08, PFAIU currently represents 300 companies. The Union is committed to promoting and developing the Palestinian food industry by organizing export initiatives, providing training in management and marketing, facilitating access to international markets, and supporting sustainability and innovation in the sector.

In alignment with national and international environmental priorities, PFAIU is leading initiatives under the Green and Circular Economy (GCE) framework, with a focus on inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability.
The food and agriculture industries represent the largest industrial sector in Palestine and are key contributors to economic resilience. The sector is increasingly adopting sustainable practices such as waste reduction, food waste utilization, and minimizing environmental impact. The sector is trying all the way to contribute to environmental protection efforts. To take advantage of Food waste, “Food waste “as well as reduce the environmental impact.
This project, led by PFAIU in partnership with the Belgian Development Agency (Enable) and funded by the Government of Belgium under the Green West Bank intervention, aims to drive a sustainable transformation in the food industry. The project supports the integration of Green and Circular Economy practices into the food value chain, enhancing ecological and social resilience in the region.
Through this collaboration, the following objectives will be pursued:
General Objective:
To supporting the Green and circular economy and entrepreneurship in the Food value chain based on a market system approach.
Specific objective:
- Promote the adoption of sustainable waste management practices
- Encourage the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions
- Support advocacy and implementation of relevant regulatory frameworks
Scope of Work
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and overall management of the PFAIU General Manager, the Field Officer will be responsible mainly for implementing and monitoring GCE project activities in the field. The position involves close engagement with beneficiary companies, and relevant stakeholders to ensure proper follow-up, data collection, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field visits to beneficiary companies and cooperatives participating in the project.
- Follow up on the implementation of green and circular economy activities at the enterprise level inside company.
- Support the coordination and facilitation of training sessions, workshops, and technical support visits.
- Assist in collecting data, feedback, and documentation from the field in accordance with the project’s monitoring and evaluation plan.
- Coordinate with MEAL officer to collect data and track KPI’s.
- Prepare field reports and summaries in both Arabic and English.
- Coordinate with project team members to ensure timely and quality implementation of field activities.
- Support beneficiaries in understanding and applying recommended environmental and business practices.
- Report field challenges, risks, or concerns to the Project Coordinator for appropriate action.
- Contribute to the visibility and documentation efforts of the project, including taking photos and capturing success stories.
- Maintain organized records of all field visits and interactions with beneficiaries.

Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and technology, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in field-based roles, preferably within development projects or NGOs.
- Knowledge of the food industry, environmental practices, circular economy concepts is a strong asset.
- the knowledge of green economy and waste management.
- Experience working with Palestinian local companies
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills in both Arabic and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to fieldwork, sometimes in rural areas.
Languages:
- Fluency in Arabic and good command of English (both written and spoken).
