Biomedical Engineer Officer
Overview: USAID’s Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) award is a USAID funded global award, that works in tandem with country governments and local nongovernmental organizations to provide targeted technical and capacity development assistance and contribute to the global technical leadership and policy dialogue on improving measurable outcomes for maternal, reproductive, newborn and child health, and voluntary family planning.
MCGL seeks a Biodmedical Engineer Officer for a USAID funded program in East Jerusalem, the East Jerusalem Hospital Network (EJHN). The Biomedical Engineer will work on supporting the implementation of the activity plan for the MCGL-EJHN for designated health facilities. S/he will primarily focus on the procurement cycle concerning medical equipment but can also support Jhpiego’s local office with other related needs.
EJHN comprises six non-profit, charitable hospitals that have a long history of providing services to patients from East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza. The EJHN program will support hospitals within the network to diversify income streams and improve quality of services for patients from the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.
Responsibilities:
- Lead collaboratively the development, review, and analysis of equipment to be procured for the project
- Support the development of the implementation and training plan for health facilities
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the progress of project implementation and provide technical-level assistance to hospitals where needed throughout cycle.
- Provide support for equipment Installation and calibration, end-user training (clinical and non-clinical staff), commissioning, and maintenance.
- Provide support on clinical application and guidelines of operation, safety,…etc
- Undertake other tasks that may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or related fields.
- Relevant hands-on experience in the biomedical field no less than 7 years
- Good knowledge and working experience in medical technology selection, specifications assignment to different medical equipment, procurement, installation, documentation and training.
- Technological and computer proficiency
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Arabic.
- Good command in performing statistical analysis
- Organized, focused, and detailed oriented
- Experience working in a lab and/or hospital preferred
- Excellent independent worker and collaborator
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, multitasking and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform.
- Ability to identify solutions for complex problems
- Strong skills in facilitation, coordination and orientation
- Ability to manage and facilitate trainings
- Critical-thinking skills to compare and contrast your options and choose the most viable one so you can solve problems and make decisions
