Background 

Bayader for Environment & Development (Bayader) is a non – government organization established in 2007 aiming to develop the Palestinian community and society in Food security and Livelihood, protection, community development, economic empowerment and emergency response & early recovery.

Bayader in partnership with different International NGOs (INGOs) and donors is going to implement a number of projects which aimed to address the urgent needs of conflict-affected populations for basic services. The intervention includes projects related food security and livelihoods, WASH, shelters, Education, and other activities might be required during the emergency situation ay the Gaza Strip, the hired staff will be responsible to carry different tasks and activities within the anticipated projects. 

Bayader is seeking highly skilled staff to be hired for the following position:  

Position Title:  Agronomist – Full time. 

Place: Bayader Office - Khan Younis 

Reports to: Project Coordinator (PC) 

Contract Duration: 4 Months 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver technical guidance in crop production, soil management, irrigation, pest control, and climate-resilient farming practices. 
  • Support in beneficiary identification, field assessments, and technical evaluations. 
  • Participate in the design and implementation of training sessions for farmers. 
  • Coordinate with the field team and local stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of agricultural activities. 
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and documentation for project tracking and donor reporting. 
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented in accordance with the donor’s standards and humanitarian principles. 
  • Conduct baseline surveys, needs assessments, and field diagnostics related to crop and soil conditions on coordination with MEAL staff. 
  • Monitor and supervise the distribution of agricultural inputs (seeds, tools, fertilizers, etc.). 
  • Guide farmers in applying good agricultural practices (GAP) tailored to Gaza's local context. 
  • Track and document beneficiary feedback, field observations, and progress reports. 
  • Ensure accountability and do-no-harm principles in all field interactions. 
  • Identify and report risks, challenges, and deviations from planned activities. 
  • Maintain updated records of field visits, beneficiary engagement, and outcomes. 
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the project coordinator.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience: 

  • Bachelor University degree from accreted university in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Science, or a related field, with at least grade good. 
  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible work experience in similar field. 
  • Minimum one year experience working with NGOs. 
  • Significant experience working on humanitarian assistance, livelihoods projects required. 
  • Good writing and communication skills in both English and Arabic. 
  • Proven ability to carry multi-task activities and meet deadlines. 
  • Proven ability to develop progress reports. 
  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel). 
  • Demonstrated strengths in relationship management; able to work with diverse groups of people in a multicultural, team-oriented environment. 
  • Understands and works with local contexts (operational and cultural). 
  • Resident of Rafah or Khan Younis
