Mortgage Underwriter

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Underwriter to evaluate loan applications, assess risk, and ensure compliance with lending guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, knowledge of mortgage regulations, and experience in underwriting conventional, FHA, VA, and/or USDA loans.

Responsibilities

       1.  Loan Application Review & Analysis

• Examine mortgage applications for accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze borrower financials (income, assets, credit history, debt-to-income ratio).
• Review property appraisals to verify value and marketability.

2. Risk Assessment & Decision-Making

• Evaluate borrower creditworthiness based on lender and investor guidelines.
• Approve, deny, or request additional conditions on loan files.
• Identify potential fraud or misrepresentation in loan documentation.
• Escalate high-risk or complex files to senior underwriters as needed.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence

• Ensure loans meet agency guidelines
• Stay updated on federal/state lending laws
• Maintain compliance with internal policies and investor requirements.

4. Communication & Collaboration

• Work closely with loan officers, processors, and borrowers to obtain missing documentation.
• Provide clear explanations for underwriting decisions and loan conditions.
• Assist in resolving pre- and post-closing underwriting issues.

5. Process Efficiency & Documentation

• Maintain organized records and ensure timely file processing.
• Support audits and quality control reviews.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Business, Finance or a related subject
• 1+ Year experience in related subject.
• English Fluent Speaker.
• self-motivated and self-starter, able to work individually and as part of a team
