Environmental and Social impact assessment

MA’AN has been working on implementing a project entitled “WASH and Nutrition Humanitarian Response in Gaza”. The project is funded by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The project is planned to target two areas in the Gaza strip, Al Shoka area in the southern side of Rafah governorate and Al Moghraga area in the middle of Gaza strip. The two localities suffer from poor infrastructure of water and sanitation which cause poor WASH and hygiene conditions for the population there. Many households in the two localities have poor water and potable water storage tanks. In addition, many of the households have un safe/ un healthy toilets or kitchens. Finally, many of the houses. Concerning the sewage disposal system, many of the households use the cesspits which are in poor and unsafe conditions.  

The objective of the TOR is to elaborate an environment and social impact assessment (ESIA) in order to ascertain the possible environmental and social impacts of the infrastructural subcomponents (sewer line installation); detail the possible environmental and social impacts of the construction and maintenance works; and to manage, mitigate, and monitor any possible negative impacts during the design, construction and operational phases of the project; and where possible enhance positive impacts, MA’AN expects the consultancy firm to have a composition of multi-disciplinary team to execute to consultancy.   

The expected key qualifications:    

• A high academic degree in related fields;
• Proven expertise working in conducting Environmental and Social Impact Assessments
• Proven knowledge of WASH situation in the Gaza Strip

• The awarded Consultant of this offer will be required to pay for the cost of this advertisement.
• Offers will be assessed first on their technical merit using the evaluation criteria below. Only technical scores of at least 70 points will qualify for the financial review. The financial offer weight is 30% from the total weight while the technical offer is 70% of the total weight.
