The American Friends Service Committee is a Quaker Organization that employs people of various faiths who are committed to social justice, peace and humanitarian service. Its work is based on the Quaker belief in the worth of every person and faith in the power of love to overcome violence and injustice. Since its inception, AFSC has been committed to peace-building as well as relief efforts. Today the main activity of the AFSC Gaza office is the Palestine Youth Program, which empowers Palestinian young people to become proactive agents of social change.
AFSC seeks a dynamic and reliable Office Manager with experience in finance and administrative work, to be based in Gaza. The Office Manager will report to the Program Director in Gaza and will work in close consultation with the Regional Finance and Administrative Coordinator in Jerusalem.
Main tasks and responsibilities: The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to provide overall office management support to ensure the smooth running of the AFSC office in Gaza, including day-to-day administration of AFSC human resources, premises, purchasing and logistics, IT, Legal and Contractual Compliance, finance, and staff safety and Security.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
-Commitment to social justice and Quaker values
-University degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
-A minimum of 5 years combined leadership and financial management experience, including 3 years in a senior management capacity with a not-for-profit organization involving a significant number of people and organizations with diverse and varied interests and backgrounds.
-Ability to lead and motivate groups and individuals. Ability to think creatively and strategically to mediate and negotiate successfully with individuals and groups. Ability to effectively manage staff, multiple deadlines and tight time constraints.
-Excellent command of written and verbal English, with good interpersonal communications skills.
-Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office program programs and electronic communications tools including the internet and email systems.
